- First Consent by RealMoments
This is a story that is very strange but true. I've been reading
all kinds of fictional stories like this one to get through
my problem, but now I'm finding that writing about my experiences
is really helping. I have used some words that are usually
reserved for non-true stories, but please know that this one
is true.
In my late twenties I started to feel a separation from my
mother that was a bit disturbing. My mother and I had been
separated since I was 10 and I had spent the rest of my life
watching all my friends and other family members enjoy a close
relationship with their mothers that really added to their
life. Every time I would hear someone talk about their mother,
they would mention how they would die for them, or do anything

- A Friend in Need
We financially outgrew our suburban neighborhood about a decade
ago. We bought our 3/2/2 cracker box sixteen years ago. We've
added on, built a pool, deck, sauna, weight room, and den.
Our neighbors are jealous, but they're still friends. We've
known most of them from the beginning - four couples especially.
They've all been through tough times. Cheryl and I have helped
them all from time to time. I'm lucky, I suppose. I'm a top-notch
salesman. I'm never out of work or money, and I'm also free
with my money.
My friends think I'm generous to a fault. When we go out
as a group, I always grab the check. We entertain a great
deal. Our home is like a yuppie playground. The drinks are
free, the music is sixties/seventies, and there's no need
to drive home drunk. Either stagger home or crash where you
are.
Frank and Rachel are our best friends. We knew them from
high school. Frank is an auto mechanic; Rachel sells Avon
- mostly to Cheryl. Cheryl is fucking Frank fairly regularly,
and I've had the pleasure of bopping Rachel a few times when
she gets shit-faced. Cheryl is bisexual. She's had Rachel
more than I have, but only when Rachel gets shit-faced. Rachel
gets teased about . . . .

- All in the Family by Dod Kalm
My parents broke up when I was 14. I was all for it. I stayed
with my dad. We were able to work out the basics on our own.
Dinner was on the table every night. It worked out with just
him and me, then after a few months he started dating again.
At first, it was one right after the other, but just before
I turned 16, he started dating someone seriously. Jenny was
a little bit of an oddball, but my dad loved her and when
they decided to get married, I was happy for him.
About two months after their wedding, Jenny told my dad about
her daughter, Carrie. She'd lost custody of Carrie after her
divorce, but now that things were more stable in her life,
her ex was willing to let Carrie spend the summer with her.
When my dad and Jenny told me I'd have a sister for the summer,
I wasn't too enthusiastic. When I found out she was my age,
I was even less enthusiastic. I didn't want to . . . .
