My name is Janine Simms, Janey for short. I am 30 years old.
I live here in Georgia, in the midst of the Savannah marshlands.
I live with my younger brother Timmy, and my daughter Hope.
We live a quiet but peaceful life. For all these years, I
have been silent about what had happened to me, trying to
forget; but of late, the memories have been coming back, filling
me with haunting pain. I figure the only way I can ever escape
these memories is to tell my story to someone else. And so...here's

It was an early summer evening. I had been out with some friends
for a late dinner when suddenly one of them became ill. So
our plans fell through and I returned home earlier than expected.
As I entered the front door, I noticed that the TV in the

It is unfortunate that more boys don't have a big sister like
I had to help them through puberty. I mean that's a tough
time for everyone. But I had my sister and am I ever grateful
I did.
We have always been close even though she is three years
older than me. There were some rough times in our relationship
when she was between 12 and 14 but even then, I sensed that
she really would come through in a pinch, if it came to that.
So by the time I was 12 and beginning to grow in all sorts
